Phase II

Shri Ram Mohan Mishra IAS, Joint Secretary – CGWB visited a few RWHSs constructed by Siruthuli in the Phase I. Seeing the efficacy of these structures, Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources, has sanctioned Rs 1 Crore to construct 215 more structures in Coimbatore city to harvest the run-off water from the roads and open spaces. Of these, 130 Nos are being constructed on roadsides and 85 Nos are being constructed on open spaces.

A District Level Technical Coordination Committee has been formed under the Chairmanship of the District Collector, Coimbatore for technical guidance for proper implementation of the project. This project got inaugurated on 2nd December 2009, and since then the work is progressing well under the supervision of District Level Technical Coordination Committee. With the first installment of Rs. 70 Lakhs from CGWB, 70% of the work has been completed in all aspects.

The progress of work was inspected by the members of DLTCC during the second DLTCC meeting held on 20th February 2010. The members inspected a few locations where the structures have been constructed and expressed their satisfaction in the quality of work carried out by Siruthuli. The Committee unanimously recommended Siruthuli to the State Technical Coordination Committee, Chennai to receive the 2nd installment inorder to complete the work.

 

The construction of the remaining 30% will commence as soon as the IInd installment of Rs 30 Lakhs is received from CGWB.
