Project “Pasum Pulari” was formally inaugurated by Coimbatore City Commissioner of Police Dr C Sylendra Babu IPS on 09th January 2011. A rally was organized from VOC Park to PRS grounds marking the beginning of this green endeavor and had the cheerful participation of more than 500 students from the various educational institutions in the city, along with the members of various NGOs in the city and Rapid Action Force. Dr. C Sylendra Babu IPS flagged off the rally at 08.00 AM near Pachai Nayagi, the mascot of Coimbatore. The rally ended at the PRS Grounds, where the Commissioner gave a soul-searching speech motivating our young generation to think green and to live green.

Dr C Sylendra Babu IPS also launched the website of “Pasum Pulari” – www.greencoimbatore.com. After the induction of Green Guardians, he administered the Green Coimbatore Oath to all those who gathered to witness the beginning of this green history. Thereafter 80 saplings were planted at the PRS Ground premises and a few saplings were distributed to the Green Guardians and other NGOs present there.
