Because of the encroachments on the water channels, the excess flow of water from Kurichi Kulam was prevented from reaching the Vellalore Tank. This situation prevails for years. Since the encroachments could not be reclaimed due to practical reasons, Siruthuli channelized the water that passes through surplus weir of Kuruchi Kulam by deviating and constructing an alternate channel for about 250 metres. This by-pass channel ensured filling-up of Vellalore Tank after a very long time. As a result of flow of water to Vellalore Tank, the farmers around the lake were immensely benefited.
