Tree Planting on the banks of Chithiraichavadi Anaicut

Nature Club students of Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore voluntarily came forward to join hands with Siruthuli to perform environment related projects, in particular - tree planting activities. Accordingly Siruthuli picked up an afforestation project and advised them not to limit themselves on tree "planting" alone, as the service doesnt end up in a day. The students were told that nurturing of trees should necessarily follow watering and maintenance and hence we demanded a longer commitment from them before getting into this project.

Thus, with a better understanding between Siruthuli and the Nature Club members of Kumaraguru College of Technology, around 250 bamboo trees were planted on the banks of Chithiraichavadi Anaicut on 25th July 2009. Around 60 volunteers from that club dedicatedly worked on that day and planted all those trees. Siruthuli supplied saplings, organic manure and implements like crowbars and spades to dig and shovel the soil. From Siruthuli, a team of apex members and staff were guiding them on these tree planting activities. Students were very much active on digging the pits, planting those trees on the pits and also watering the same. Collectively, more than 300 man hours spent on that day could change the entire banks of Chithirai Chavadi into a green panorama.
